Massive increase in Isle of Man related sales in January

The Online Regional Travel which owns and operates a number of well- known travel companies on the Isle of Man, Jersey & Guernsey has announced its Isle of Man travel web sites have seen exceptional growth in January.

Web sites VisitIOM, Manxflights and Manxferries have had a very busy January says Brian Kelly the group’s CEO. Collective growth for the month year on year has been over 400%. This is great early news for the Island as 98% of the bookings are inbound into the Isle of Man.

Bookings continue to flow in from around the globe many with accommodation and car hire as travellers take up the opportunity to use our full online booking experience. We would expect our Isle of Man sites to exceed £1m in sales in 2015 which still only represents 3% of the group’s total sales but it’s growing rapidly and endorses the group’s strategy that the only future travel agents have is in providing niche online services to the travelling public.

Mr Kelly states that the group are delighted to be able to support and help expand the Islands visitor economy and we are encouraged with a very positive start to the year.

We have been very proactive in promoting the Island in recent months through our attendance at the Motorcycle show at the NEC and the Destination Holiday Show at Olympia in London. We are delighted with the response we have had in the launch of our new Isle of Man destination and full booking web site www.VisitIOM.co.uk. It has been well received at the shows as we have been able to make live bookings there and then.

The group continues to expand online and has some very exciting new sites in development, 2015 will be a busy online year as the travel sector continues its transition from the high street to online
