BA increase checked baggage allowance
British Airways will increase its checked baggage allowance for customers booking in full fare economy on all longhaul flights with effect from 1 February 2011.The new policy raises the checked baggage allowance for customers travelling in full fare economy (Y class) on all longhaul flights from one to two pieces of baggage. The new allowance will apply to all new bookings from 1 February 2011.
In addition, the following changes will apply to any customer travelling from 1 February 2011, regardless of when the booking was made or when travel commenced:
•Gold and Silver Executive Club cardholders (and Sapphire and Emerald oneworld equivalents of the AAdvantage and Iberia’s Plus frequent flyer programmes) will now be entitled to a two-bag allowance when travelling in economy on all three carriers.
•The heavy bag charge will increase from £30/$50 to £40/$60/€50 in World Traveller/Euro Traveller and World Traveller Plus (economy/premium economy) for bags weighing between 23kgs (50lbs) and 32kgs (70lbs).
