USA imposes a charge when obtaining an ESTA for travel without visa
It has been mandatory since 2009 for travellers visiting the USA, under the visa waiver programme scheme, to obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA).A fee of US$14 is now charged by the US Department of Homeland Security when applying for or re-newing an ESTA. The payment must be made by credit card.
ESTA applications must be made on line at https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov at least 72 hours prior to departure.
Travel authorisation does not guarantee admission to the USA.
