Manx2 adds Belfast - Galway to it's network

Manx2.com is adding another route to its list of services, offering flights from Belfast International to Galway beginning in July 2010.

With a twice-daily commuter service Monday to Friday and daily service at weekends, Manx2.com is set to re-open air links between Belfast and the West of Ireland with 12 flights per week, in what is seen as a huge stimulus for business, tourism and leisure.

As part of the new service, three days a week (Monday, Friday and Sunday) the flights will be routed from the Isle of Man too, providing unprecedented access to and from the West of Ireland to encourage both inbound tourism to the Isle of Man and enhance opportunities for business and finance links between the two communities. A connecting flight will return on Sunday evenings making Galway the ideal destination for a weekend away.

From Monday 5th July, flights from Belfast to Galway will operate twice daily on most weekdays and on Sunday evenings. . Fares will start from £39 each way including taxes and charges.

Chairman Noel Hayes said: “Following extensive research, we believe this new route will suit business, tourism and leisure travellers. An air link between Ireland’s second and fifth largest cities will help connect business, friends and families who currently have to make a 5 hour road journey. “With the Isle of Man – Galway route we are delighted to be able to fly the Manx flag into the West of Ireland, promoting the Island as an ideal destination and providing invaluable links to help boost the Isle of Man economies – business and tourism – and help connect family links. “Plus, of course, as an Isle of Man-based business, profits generated from this entirely off-Island route will provide additional income to the Isle of Man Treasury and increase the Island’s appeal as a great place to do business.” Rod Nipper, Isle of Man Tourism Director, said: “Manx2.com is a great ambassador for the Isle of Man and we applaud their contribution to the expansion of the Isle of Man economy for business and tourism, particularly in the current economic climate. A fine example of turning the concept of “Freedom to Flourish” into practical delivery.”
Manx2.com employs 60 staff and has a fleet of seven aircraft providing up to 30 flights a day to the Isle of Man. Its customer services, reservations and operations departments are all based in the new hangar facility at Ronaldsway Airport. Manx2.com is proud to be a small Isle of Man based company carrying 100,000 passengers a year between the Isle of Man and Blackpool, Belfast, Leeds Bradford, East Midlands, Newcastle, Gloucester and Jersey. It has recently been voted the Island’s best small company for the second time in three years at the annual IOM Newspapers Excellence Awards.
